Switchbacks DH location

Right in the thick of it

Switchbacks DH has two locations. The first is found close to Malaga where we take advantage of our vans and chairlifts to ride several purpose built DH runs. The proximity to the coast means that SwitchbacksDH is DHing, so when it is cold and dark and you want dry DHing, sun, and cold beers …

Our second location is set in the charming mountain village of Bubion - the very heart of the beautiful region known as Las Alpujarras. Here we are surrounded by a fantastic variety of singletrack downhilling. All of it is accessible by van and with plenty of bars and restaurants to stop in along the way for a cold beer or coffee before another run.

Due to this excellent location, daily transfers are very short, thus avoiding long boring drives and, above all, not wasting precious riding time. In real terms this means we will ride straight from the door onto lush singletrack or get shuttled up to descend for the rest of the day.

Pro training ground

Situated in Southern Spain, on the edge of Sierra Nevada National Park and home of the of the 1999 World MTB Championships, the downhilling has been described as some of the best and most fun by Greg Minnaar.

The riding is characterised by fast burmed descents, rocky chutes and switchbacks, long singletrack downhills, drops of up to 6 foot and the odd BIG drop - if you wish.

Accommodation (Bubion)

Relax in your own village house, traditional in character and feel but with hot showers, laundry facilities, BBQ and in-house bike storage and workshop. Bedrooms are based on 2/3 sharing while all couples are provided with their own room. All properties have a full kitchen, communal living room and terrace or garden. On arrival you'll find the cupboards and fridge full of food, snacks and cold beer to get you settled in.

Our in-house workshop is fully kitted out with tools, bike stand, track pump and a select supply of spares.

A good selection of bars, restaurants, cash point machines and village shops are all within a 5 minutes walk.

Accommodation (Malaga)

You will be accommodated in very comfortable apartments of up to 4/5 people each and shared rooms of 1 to 2 persons. They have complete kitchens, TV, central heating, A/C, hot showers, secure bike storage, and plenty of bars and restaurants close by. Villas are available upon request but these are limited to ask at the time of booking.

An all you can eat buffet breakfast is supplied for your stay at the hotel while for lunch you can either prepare sandwiches at the hotel or there are several burger bars where we can stop (€9ish). An excellent location for both the trails and Costa del Sol night life - a Saturday night on the coast is something not to be missed.

Situated only 20 mins drive from Malaga airport, this often means that you get a few runs in on your day of arrival/ departure. Most importanly your accommodation is only 10 minutes away from the chairlifts as well as a bike shop with spares, tyres etc. There are several restaurants, shops and bars all within a minutes walk away.
